Following a Saturday of nothing but rain and more rain the Dirt Outlaw Apparel King Edward Auto Parts Fall Nationals was ready to go this past Sunday at the Brockville Ontario Speedway with a full program of racing plus the held over Action Sprint Tour 25 lap A-main from Friday night.

Points leader and 10 time winner on the tour in 2021, Jacob Dykstra led the way on a slick race track over Brett Stratford, Eric Gledhill, Johnny Miller and Nick Sheridan. Dykstra was fast in the early laps and continued his domination as behind him Nick Sheridan was on the charge as well. Sheridan was looking for his second Fall Nationals win, claimed the 2nd spot on lap 4 with Eric Gledhill taking the third spot. On lap 10 Sheridan, who was running the extreme outside portion of the speedway, lost it off the top side of the speedway in turn 2, allowing Eric Gledhill to take 2nd. Meanwhile leader Jacob Dykstra was working traffic to perfection, but on lap 16 things nearly ended in disaster as a multi car spin in turn 4 collected Dykstra as he spun to avoid hitting anyone. Dykstra was able to keep moving and was able to hold the lead and motor on before the caution flag flew. It proved to be a winning move as on the final restart Jacob Dykstra was able to pull away and go unchallenged to record his 2nd Brockville win of the season, his 11th Action Sprint Tour win of the year and the 2021 series championship. Eric Gledhill held on for 2nd over Nick Sheridan Brett Stratford and 2021 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Car champion Matt Billings.

The regular portion of the program was just underway as J an J Automotive DIRTcar 358 Modified heat events were complete along with three heats in the Action Sprint Tour. When the J and J Automotive DIRTcar Sportsman came to the track for heat number 1, Mother Nature made her return to the speedway and delayed the program. Despite several attempts by track crews to get the speedway back in racing condition, Mother Nature would end up the winner as officials were forced to cancel the program, which will be made up in the spring of 2022, with a date to be announced.

Wheeler and Rouse claim Ogilvie’s series wins while Power and Arbuthnot claim

titles at Brockville Fall Nationals

By: Tim Baltz

The 13th edition of the Dirt Outlaw Apparel King Edward Auto Parts Fall Nationals

at the Brockville Ontario Speedway saw over 130 cars as the Ogilvie’s Auto and

Fleet Triple Crown Series for the J and J Automotive 358 Modified and Sportsman

divisions took center stage. The next to last round of the Action Sprint Tour was

also in town and the popular Mini Stock division also were a part of the show.

Despite threatening skies, the racing action did not disappoint.

The 60 lap Ogilvie’s Auto and Fleet Triple Crown Series for the 358 Modifieds took

the green and Cornwall Ontario’s Corey Wheeler took the lead at the drop of the

green flag over 2021 track champion Ryan Arbuthnot, Luke Whitteker, Gary

Lindberg and Mario Clair. Wheeler was fresh off a pair of victories at the Cornwall

Speedway last week and was running strong in the early laps as the rest of the

field tried to keep pace. On lap 14-Wheeler entered lapped traffic which gave an

opportunity for Arbuthnot and Whitteker tor try and close the gap but even with

the heavy traffic, Wheeler was able to hold Arbuthnot and Whitteker at bay, to

keep the lead. Behind the leader other drivers were also on the move. Carey

Terrance and David Hebert were charging forward as they would break into the

top 5 on lap 25 as Wheeler continued to remain up front and in control. On lap 38

the first yellow of the night flew when Brianna Ladouceur slid off the top side of

turns three and four. When the green flew Wheeler and Arbuthnot remained up

front with Luke Whitteker third while Terrance and Hebert were on the move.

Both drivers were able to get into the top three but still had to run down the race

leader. On lap 55 the final caution flew setting up one last chance to catch Corey

Wheeler. When the green flew Wheeler was able to jump out front and grab a

comfortable lead over Hebert and Terrance while Mario Clair and Ryan Arbuthnot

tried to keep pace. In the end Corey Wheeler would finally break through for his

first ever Brockville Speedway 358 Modified win and first Ogilvie’s Series victory.

David Hebert, Carey Terrance, Mario Clair and Steve Bernier would complete the

top 5. Ryan Arbuthnot would cross in 6th, good enough to secure his 2nd straight

Ogilvie’s Triple Crown title.

The 50 lap Ogilvie’s Auto and Fleet Triple Crown for the J and J Automotive

Sportsman division was ready for battle and Quebec star William Racine would

take the lead at the drop of the green flag over Jarrett Herbison, Felix Roy, Brad

Rouse and Cedric Gauvreau. Things did not go so good for 2021 track champion

and Ogilvie’s Series point leader Bobby Herrington, as he broke his steering box

which sent the car into traffic. Herrington was hit several times eventually coming

to a stop in turn 2. The car was heavily damaged. With a fast race track Racine

was able to hold a comfortable lead in the opening laps, while Herbison, Rouse

and the others did what they could to stay in touch with the leader. Veteran Brad

Rouse had a great car just past the halfway point of the event and began to move

forward as he took the 2nd spot away and closed in on the race leader William

Racine. On lap 35 Rouse would take the lead away and settle into the top spot as

the laps clicked off. The Ogilvie’s Series title fight saw Jessica Power and Dylan

Kirkland stage their war for the crown as Power remained in control as Kirkland

tried to stay inside the top 10. In the closing laps Cedric Gauvreau would get by

for 2nd and close in on Brad Rouse for the lead. On the final lap Gauvreau was

close and heading into turn three the top two made slight contact, but Brad

Rouse would hold on for his first Brockville Sportsman win. Cedric Gauvreau

would cross in 2nd over William Racine, Felix Roy and Jessica Power, who was

able to fend off Dylan Kirkland and edge out Bobby Herrington to claim her first

ever Ogilvie’s Auto and Fleet Sportsman Triple Crown title.

The Mini Stock division was making their 8th appearance at the Dirt Outlaw

Apparel/King Edward Auto Parts Fall Nationals and runner up in track points for

2021, Hayden Brown, would lead the way in the early going over Dominik Blais

and Mathieu Voghell. Brown had the fastest car on the speedway as he pulled

away quickly in the first few laps as Blais, Voghell, Jeremie Goyette and Brighton

Speedway regular Tommy Bailey battled for top 5 positions. Brown was running

strong and many wondered if he could be stopped. On lap 12 Mother Nature

brought in a brief shower to help the field catch up. When the rain cleared and

the field reassembled, the race went back to green and no change at the head of

the field as Brown remained in control but Marc Dagenais was on his way forward

as he moved to 2nd and tried his best to catch the leader. On lap 23 Dagenais was

able to take over the lead in traffic and it appeared he was well on his way to his

first Fall Nationals win. On lap 24 mechanical problems stopped any chance of a

win, allowing Hayden Brown to return to the lead. In the final laps Hayden Brown

would hold off all challenges from Jeremie Goyette claim his first Fall Nationals

Mini Stock title in his Fall Nationals debut. Goyette would take 2nd with Kevin

Sabourin 3rd, 2021 Cornwall champion Alexis Charbonneau 4th and Pierre Picard

5th.

As the 25 lap Action Sprint Tour/1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Car feature rolled

trackside, Mother Nature returned and this time she stayed for good. The 25 lap A

main will be run over this weekend.

Stock Car Steve Bilow honored for 50th year during championship night at

Brockville

By: Tim Baltz

Staff and Management at the Brockville Ontario Speedway began the 2021 racing

season simply wondering if there would be a season at all with the COVID-19

pandemic still very much present. By July 3rd cars were once again back on track

and running strong and finally champions were crowned in all 6 regular divisions,

along with a legend and Hall of Famer being honored for 50 years in racing.

J and J Automotive 358 Modified competitor simply known as Stock Car Steve

Bilow began his racing journey at the local short tracks and has seen plenty over

his racing career. At intermission on championship night every driver from every

team in the pit area assembled on the front stretch to honor his career. Following

a short interview Steve was honored with a sign which was autographed by all

drivers at the speedway. Also, Steve was presented a special trophy

commemorating his dedication to the sport. He was also given the rare Golden

Ticket at the Brockville Speedway by promotors Paul and Cheryl Kirkland.

In J and J Automotive 358 Modified action the title would come down to a battle

between Kyle Dingwall and defending track champion Ryan Arbuthnot with just

22 points separating the two drivers. The start of the 30 lap event on 1000 Islands

Toyota night was a bit rough as several cautions for minor incidents slowed the

field in the opening 4 laps. Chris Raabe who was searching for his first ever

Brockville Modified win would set the pace early but Kyle Dingwall was up to the

challenge as he challenged the Alexandria native for the lead. Dingwall would take

the top spot away and bring Ryan Arbuthnot with him to the runner up spot with

Gage Morin and Lee Ladouceur completing the top 5. Dingwall was quick in the

early laps on a track that was tough for some as Brian McDonald found out,

spinning off turn 3 and 4 on lap 11. Under the same yellow 358 Modified rookie

Johnathon Ferguson slowed to a stop with brake issues. Once the laps clicked off

Kyle Dingwall continued his torrid pace as he pulled out to a comfortable lead

while Arbuthnot and Raabe continued their battle for second with Gage Morin

and Chris Herbison completing the top 5. As the race drew to a close the rest of

the field was no match for Kyle Dingwall on this night as he would dominate the

event for his 2nd win of the season. Ryan Arbuthnot would end up second which

was more than plenty to notch his 2nd title in a row. Chris Raabe ended his

regular season on a high note with a 3rd place effort over Gage Morin and Chris

Herbison. Steve Bilow would end his 50th year by finishing the season 10th in 358

Modified points to go along with 3 top 10 finishes on the season.

In J and J Automotive Sportsman action Bobby Herrington came into the evening

with a 31 point lead over Jarrett Herbison in the chase for the title and both

drivers were fast at the start of the 25 lap event. After a slow start due to many

early race cautions Herrington would charge past early leader Xavier Perrin on lap

2 with Shane Stearns Ricky Thompson and Dylan Kirkland making up the early top

5. Herrington was once again the dominant car as he began to stretch his lead out

over a quality field. Ricky Thompson was fast early as he made some great moves

at the start of the event to get to the runner up spot and in the process Jessica

Power was charging forward from her 7th starting spot as she moved to third on

lap 4. It was a struggle for title contender Jarrett Herbison on this night as he slid

off the top side of turns 1 and 2 but kept the car rolling but had a long way to go

to get back in contention. Herbison would end up 9th at the finish. The field

began to string out around the speedway and Herrington, much like he has all

season, worked traffic to perfection and seemed to get faster with Thompson and

Power continuing their battle for 2nd over Xavier Perrin and Shane Stearns.

Without help from a caution flag in the late stages of the event nobody was

catching Bobby Herrington once again as he would charge to his 7th win in 8 races

at Brockville and also take his first Track Championship. Thompson held on for

2nd with Jessica Power Xavier Perrin and Shane Stearns taking the top 5 spots.

The race everyone had their eye on was the Mini Stock division and math was

simple for this track title. Jarrod Galway and Hayden Brown came into the night

locked in a tie for the point lead. Whoever finished in front of the other would be

the new champion. Galway would take the lead at the drop of the green flag over

Hayden Brown, who would have his share of struggles falling to the back portion

of the top 5 as Mark Supernant and Marc Dagenais would complete the top 3

early on in the 20 lap event. Galway would remain in control but Hayden Brown

continued to fight as he finally made his way to the runner up just past halfway

and challenged Galway repeatedly for the lead. As the laps clicked off the battle

for the lead became intense as both drivers raced each other hard but also kept it

very clean during the race. On the white flag lap Brown made his move to the

inside lane on the back stretch and pulled even with Galway. Coming off the final

turn the top two drag raced to the checkered flag providing one of the closest

finishes all season. At the line Jarrod Galway would claim his first win of the

season but more importantly his first ever Mini Stock championship after 5 years

of trying. Hayden Brown came home a very close second with Matt Boal Jamie

Larocque and John Lamarche completing the top 5.

Brock Cullen held a comfortable point lead heading into the 20 lap feature for the

Street Stock division. After a lap one tangle involving three cars Nick Merkley

would lead the field in the opening laps over Peter Raabe and Keith Riddell.

Merkley had a strong car but Todd Raabe, who had a slim chance at the title,

would work his way to 2nd and put pressure on Merkley for the lead. The caution

would fly on lap 2 for Nick Gauvreau who slowed in turn 4. Under the same yellow

Denis Hamel was not happy with Brett Horner in turn two and made heavy

contact pushing Horner through the infield causing heavy right rear damage to his

race car. Hamel was black flagged and disqualified for the event while Horner was

granted time to head to the pits and repair damage. He would return to the race

and be a factor at the end. After the race resumed Todd Raabe would make his

way by Merkley to take control of the race, something the field has seen a lot in

2021. As the laps wound down Nick Merkley’s great night took a bad turn as he

suffered a flat tire. He would return for a top 5 finish. On this night Todd Raabe

was the class of the field as he would score his 6th win in 7 tries this season in

Street Stock. Peter Raabe would cross in 2nd with Brett Horner making a big run

to come up for third with Brock Cullen claiming 4th but more importantly his first

Street Stock championship, with Nick Merkley rounding out the top 5.

The Novice Sportsman feature saw Sandy McFarlane take the top spot away with

Eric Loyer, Greg Brinklow Pryor Stacey and Nathan McKinnon making up the top 5

early on. McFarlane held a slight lead but Loyer would make his move taking the

lead and begin to author a dominant performance. On the other-hand points

leader Justin Cyr had his struggles through the 15 lap event. Despite holding a 48

point lead things were tense as he was involved in an early caution and then stuck

in traffic until the halfway point. Cyr would make his way to the front as he tried

to get the best finish he could. Up front Loyer and McFarlane began to drive away

while Greg Brinklow, Pryor Stacey, Cole Perry and Justin Cyr battled for position.

In the end nobody was stopping Eric Loyer as he went unchallenged for his first

Brockville Novice Sportsman win. Sandy McFarlane had a career best 2nd with

track champion Justin Cyr making it to third over Pryor Stacey and Cole Perry.

In the Vintage Division no points were on the line and it was all about the feature

win as Randy Gaudet, Josh Powers and Steve Billings were the dominant drivers at

the start of the 20 lap feature event. By lap 4 the top 3 had put some distance

between 4th place Ian Gordon, who was in a battle with Matt Barbour for

position. On lap 7 Rick Grundy spun off turn 3 and made contact with the fence,

but things were about to take a bad turn on the next restart. Heading into turn

one drivers tangled heading into turn 1 causing a massive pile up with over half of

the 19 car field involved. The race saw a lengthy red flag to remove the cars that

could not continue. Despite several hard hits all drivers were ok and some were

able to return to action. Even with the turn one incident there was no change in

the top 3 as Gaudet, Powers and Billings remained in control. Steve Billings would

take the lead briefly on lap 13 and appeared to be headed for victory. On lap 17

after a spirited battle, Josh Powers would slip by Billings and hold it for good as he

recorded his 2nd Brockville Vintage win of the year over Steve Billings, Randy

Gaudet, Matt Barbour and Pete Stapper, who would be declared the winner in

the 50/60 division in the original Tony Blake car that made the first ever lap on

the speedway in 1969.

The regular racing season may be over with but racing is not done at The BOS as

the annual Monster Enduro is set to take place next Sunday afternoon. For details

Herrington doubles while Arbuthnot inches closer to second Brockville

Speedway title

By: Tim Baltz

It was another great night of racing action at the Brockville Ontario Speedway this

past Saturday night as Eastern Ontario Eavestrough along with Splash Well Drilling

was on hand and one local driver ended a long victory lane drought.

The night started with the held over July 24th event for the J and J Automotive

Sportsman and Dylan Kirkland was in control of the field at the drop of the green

flag over Bobby Herrington Ricky Thompson Jarrett Herbison and Jessica Power. It

looked as if Kirkland was well on his way to his first career win but Herrington

kept the pressure on for the majority of the event. On lap 15 Kirkland went wide

in turn two and slid off the top of the speedway ending his fantastic ride and a

shot at the win. On the restart Herrington was strong and despite a challenge

from Ricky Thompson it was not meant to be as Herrington notched his 5th J an J

Automotive Sportsman win of the year over Thompson Jarrett Herbison Jessica

Power and Dale Gifford.

In the nightcap it was Herrington again in control over invader William Racine

Tyler Stewart, Dylan Kirkland and Kalen Draper. Herrington was doing what he

could to regain the top spot in points and on lap 13 points leader Jessica Power

Domonick Merkley and Justin Saunders had issues in turn 4 ending their nights

early. As the laps clicked off William Racine did all he could do to get the top spot

as they fended off challenges from Jarrett Herbison and Cedric Gauvreau. Despite

many challenges from William Racine, Herrington was able to hold on to sweep

the night and get win number 6 of the year. William Racine crossed in 2nd over

Jarrett Herbison, Cedric Gauvreau and Dylan Kirkland.

Ryan Arbuthnot was looking to continue his 2021 season going as he charged to

the lead with Corbin Millar, Kyle Dingwall Shane Pecore and Chris Herbison giving

chase. The defending track champion was on a mission as he pulled to well over a

straight away lead but Kyle Dingwall closed quickly. Dingwall was set to make a

race out of it until lap 21 when Brian McDonald and Jeremy LaSalle tangled in turn

1. On the restart Arbuthnot and Dingwall were on the charge but Johnathon

Ferguson and Dylan Evoy were under attack. 14 time track champion Danny

O’Brien was making his return and charged from 9th to 5th in the Slack family

owned 3RS and was looking for a historic win. On lap 25 the yellow flew bunching

up the field. When the drivers went back to green Ryan Arbuthnot was not to be

denied as he would drive away for win number two of the season. Kyle Dingwall

came home 2nd over Johnathon Ferguson, Dylan Evoy and Danny O’Brien

In Novice Sportsman 15 lap feature Justin Cyr has been the dominant force as he

took the lead at the drop of the green at lap 4 over Brennan Moore, Mario

Dupuis, Greg Brinklow and Tim McColman. Cyr was well in command of the field

and would go unchallenged through the 15 lap affair to score his 5th win of the

season. Brennan Moore was there for 2nd over Greg Brinklow, Tim McColman

and Cole Perry, who came from dead last to round out the top 5 at the finish.

All Matt Billings had to do was start the 15 lap 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint car

feature and he would make history as the division’s first ever champion. Billings

did just that as he took the lead and it seemed he was well on his way to his 3rd

win of the year. On lap 7 this changed as Billings had mechanical troubles which

handed the lead to Ryan Poole. On the restart Ryan Poole was the leader and Lee

Ladouceur gave it a shot, but it was not meant to be. On this night Ryan Poole

would score his first Brockville win since winning opening day of 2011 in the

sportsman division. Lee Ladouceur held on for 2nd with Kalen Draper 3rd. Matt

Billings was officially crowned the 2021 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Car

Champion.

The 15 lap Mini Stock feature started off on a scary note as Tyler Lamarche had a

bad fire on his car which brought the field to a halt. Lamarche would get out of

the car and be ok. After another fire pit side which stopped the race, Hayden

Brown was able to get the lead over Dan Cook, Michael Tremblay, Jarrod Galway

and Tyson Slinger. Brown was one of the dominant cars until lap 10 of the event,

when Andrew Naphan hit a tire coming off turn 4 it ended his night early. On the

restart Hayden Brown was showing that he is a threat for the track title as he held

the lead. As the laps clicked off it was all about Hayden Brown as he scored his 4th

win of the season in Mini Stock. Dan Cook crossed in 2nd over Michael Tremblay,

Jarred Galway and Tyson Slinger.

The Street Stock division was ready for 15 laps and Todd Raabe did not stop for

anyone as he held the lead at the drop of the green over Brock Cullen, Peter

Raabe, Sylvain Gauthier and Brett Horner. Several cautions slowed the 15-lap

event but Todd Raabe remained up front and was in control. Several late race

restarts slowed the event, but it would not stop his charge, as Todd Raabe would

march on for his 5th win in his 6th start at Brockville. Points leader Brock Cullen

finished up 2nd over Peter Raabe, Sylvain Gauthier and Brett Horner

Next week it’s final points night for all classes with 1000 Islands Toyota on hand.

Racing gets underway at 7pm. Be sure to follow the track on Facebook, Twitter

Draper and Brown sweep 358 Modified and Mini Stock events at Brockville

By: Tim Baltz

After a few weeks of threatening skies Mother Nature finally blessed the

Brockville Ontario Speedway with clear skies. A busy schedule saw make up

features for the J and J Automotive 358 Modified and Mini Stock divisions and it

was a perfect night for two drivers.

The opening laps of the 20 lap Mini Stock feature from July 24th saw plenty of

cautions as many drivers struggled with track conditions in the early going. Dan

Cook led early on and looked like he was going to be the driver to beat as he

dominated the early laps. On lap 4 Cook got held up in traffic, allowing last weeks

winner Hayden Brown to take over the lead with Jamie Larocque, Frank Belair,

Tyson Slinger and Matt Boal giving chase. Several cautions slowed the mid point

of the race but Brown remained fast and continued his march towards a possible

2nd win of the year. As the laps clicked off Frank Belair, Jamie Larocque, Tyson

Slinger and Matt Boal battled hard for a top 5 position, but nobody was catching

Hayden Brown as he notched his 2nd win of the year in the held over 20 lap

feature. Frank Belair held of for 2nd over Jamie Larocque, Tyson Slinger, and Matt

Boal.

In the regular event Hayden Brown was once again the dominant force as he led

over Frank Belair, Matt Boal, Jarrod Galway and Marc Andre Voyer. Brown was

once again flying around the speedway but behind him teammates Jamie

Larocque and Jarrod Galway battled for 2nd with Galway getting the spot, but still

had plenty of work to do to catch the leader. As the laps wound down Matt Boal

started to make a late race charge as he took 2nd on lap 18 but Pierre Picard was

also moving forward into 3rd. Picard would get to 2nd, but that would be it as

Hayden Brown would march on to complete the sweep for his 3rd win of the

season. Over Picard, Matt Boal, Jamie Larocque, and Jarrod Galway.

The held over 30 lap 358 Modified feature from July 24th saw Tristan Draper take

the lead at the drop of the green but problems occurred right away for outside

pole sitter Johnathon Ferguson, who slid off the track in turn one. He would

rebound for a 6th place finish. Draper would have some better luck as he led the

way over Kyle Dingwall, Ryan Arbuthnot, Gage Morin and Brian McDonald. The

bottom of the speedway proved to be the quick way around as Draper never left

the inside lane through much of the event with Dingwall and Arbuthnot trying

figure out a way by. Just past halfway Draper continued his strong run and was in

a great spot to score his first win since 2019. On lap 22 Brian McDonald had

problems in turn two and ended up on the tow truck and back to pit road. On the

final restart Tristan Draper was not to be denied as he held off a determined Kyle

Dingwall and Ryan Arbuthnot to collect his 2nd career 358 Modified win. Chris

Raabe charged to 4th with Dylan Evoy scoring another 5th place finish.

In the regular scheduled 358 Modified event Tristan Draper would once again find

himself at the head of the field over Brian McDonald, Gage Morin, Ryan

Arbuthnot and Johnathon Ferguson. The track was different from feature number

one with everyone now running the extreme outside lane which worked out great

for some, but for Lee Ladouceur it didn’t work out so good, as he slid off turns 3

and 4 on lap 7. On the restart Draper was once again up to the task as he held off

Ryan Arbuthnot and Brian McDonald to pull away to a comfortable lead but Ryan

Arbuthnot was on the move. After taking 2nd from McDonald, Arbuthnot would

run down the leader making it a two-car battle for the win. Draper was in

complete control and had a perfect race car on this night after struggles one week

ago. In the end Ryan Arbuthnot’s hard charge was not enough as Tristan Draper

swept the night and became the season’s first two-time winner in the J an J

Automotive 358 Modifieds. Arbuthnot crossed the line 2nd over Brian McDonald,

Gage Morin and Kyle Dingwall.

Many major stories were taking place in the J and J Automotive Sportsman

division. In an early heat race accident, the undefeated Bobby Herrington would

be forced to borrow a car to do a lap to get points for the night. The second major

story happened after the checkered flag flew resulting in a different outcome at

the finish. With all that happening Jarrett Herbison was once again a factor as he

led the way early with Ricky Thompson, Shane Stearns, Jessica Power and Josh

Kirkland making up the top 5 early on. Many drivers had found the bottom lane

was the place to be which was working great for Herbison as he was still searching

for his first Brockville win of 2021. Jessica Power was also on the move as she

charged to 2nd around Stearns and quickly closed in on the race leader but Ricky

Thompson was on the move as he took the third spot. With 10 laps to go Doug

Buzzell made contact with the wall bringing out the yellow. On the restart Ricky

Thompson found speed as he swung to the high lane and charged by Power for

2nd and was on his way to the lead. On lap 21 Thompson would take the top spot

and would lead the rest of the event and crossed the finish line first. However, a

post-race weight violation would make Ricky Thompson wait another day to get

his first Brockville win. This would bring 2nd place finisher Jarrett Herbison to

victory lane as he would be credited with his first win of the season. Jessica Power

would move to 2nd with Dylan Kirkland, Dan Ferguson and Domonick Merkley

completing the official top 5.

In Novice Sportsman Justin Cyr was once again making headlines as he led early

on but had some company in the form of Noah Mamo as they battled for the lead

through the 15-lap event. Cyr was able to work through traffic with no issues and

pulled away from Mamo while Brennan Moore, Greg Brinklow and Jordan Wood

tried to keep pace. Without the help of a caution flag Justin Cyr would continue

his domination in the Novice Sportsman division claiming his 4th win in 6 events

at Brockville. Noah Mamo’s debut would result in a heat win and a 2nd place

finish in the feature. Brennan Moore, Greg Brinklow and Jordan Wood completed

the top 5.

The 20 lap Street Stock feature saw trouble at the start as Adam Switzer lost the

handle on his machine as he spun which brought out the yellow. Once the laps

clicked off Todd Raabe was the driver in charge as he led comfortably over Brock

Cullen and Brett Horner. Raabe was perfect on this night as he worked the

bottom lane and pulled away to well over a straightaway while Cullen, Horner,

Shawn Hodge and Keith Riddell were all searching for speed. As the laps clicked

off and no caution flag to bunch up the field, Todd Raabe would make it look very

easy as he would notch his 4th win of the season in just 5 starts at Brockville in

dominant fashion. Brock Cullen would cross in 2nd over Brett Horner, Shawn

Hodge and Keith Riddell.

Next week the Action Sprint Tour will invade the Brockville Ontario Speedway and

will be set to take on our on Brockville Speedway 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Car

regulars. Also on hand will be the J and J Automotive 358 Modified and

Sportsman divisions along with Novice Sportsman, Mini Stock and Street Stock.

Racing begins at 7pm. For ticket information be sure to check out our website at

Slim chance for Brockville 358 Modified field, Brian McDonald dominates for

first win of 2021

By: Tim Baltz

After a heavy shower fell across the Brockville Ontario Speedway during the mid

afternoon, many thought it was going to be an early night and maybe an evening

spent in the house. Despite the afternoon showers and threatening skies

throughout the night, the Brockville Ontario Speedway crew managed to get a full

card of 7 divisions plus double Vintage features in the record books on Steve

Polite Sand and Gravel night.

The held over 20 lap event from July 24th for the Vintage division took to the

speedway first and veteran Randy Gaudet wasted no time getting to the front of

the field over Josh Powers, Steve Billings, Brandon Gregory and Chad Lackie. The

top two drivers, Gaudet and Power, put on a great battle for the lead with Steve

Billings close behind in third. The only way these three drivers were going to be

stopped was by a caution and that’s exactly what happened on lap 8 as Rick

Grundy and Pat Charland tangled on the front stretch. On the restart Gaudet got

away on the tacky surface and pulled away from Powers and Billings. Despite

lapped cars Randy Gaudet was not to be denied as he scored the win over Josh

Powers, Steve Billings, Brandon Gregory and Chad Lackie

Brennan Moore had a great run going at the start of the 15 lap Novice Sportsman

feature with Tristan Ladouceur giving chase. The top two were the class of the

field on the fast track with Greg Brinklow, Mario Dupuis and Holly Denard trying

their best to keep pace with the leaders. After a spirited battle on lap 7 it all came

to an end for Moore, as him and Ladouceur made slight contact in traffic,

resulting in a broken front end. On the restart Ladouceur continued to lead but

now Greg Brinklow was on the charge and looking for his first ever win. Despite a

late race restart Tristan Ladouceur was not phased as he ran to his first ever

Brockville win to go with his Novice win at Cornwall this season. Brinklow scored a

career best 2nd while Justin Cyr, Jordan Wood and Mario Dupuis completing the

top 5.

Brock Cullen was looking to find the magic he had during his opening day win as

he led the 20 lap Street Stock feature with Sylvain Gauthier right there to

challenge in the opening laps. The top two drivers had a great battle through the

first 10 laps and managed to put nearly a half track between themselves and third

place Shawn Hodge, who was having a solid evening. As the laps clicked off

quickly Brock Cullen started to stretch the advantage over Gauthier with Todd

Raabe coming from last to 3rd, getting by Hodge with three laps to go. In the end

nobody had anything for Brock Cullen as he cruised to his 2nd Street Stock win of

the year. Gauthier scored a Brockville best 2nd over Todd Raabe, Shawn Hodge

and veteran Gilles Mongeon.

August 31st of 2019 was the last time Hayden Brown was in George Tackaberry

Boulevard at The BOS and he looked strong at the start of the 20 lap Mini Stock

event on this night as he led early over Frank Belair, Jarrod Galway, Tyson Slinger

and Skylar Ladouceur. With the leader checking out on everyone, Jarrod Galway,

Frank Belair and Dan Cook, who rebounded after troubles in turns 1 and 2 early

on, put on a great battle for position with Galway getting the 2nd spot from

Belair, but had a major mountain to climb in order to catch Hayden Brown. On lap

10 a quick yellow flew giving the rest of the drivers the shot they needed. On the

restart Brown proved to be too much as he pulled away leaving Galway and Cook

to battle for the runner-up spot. On this night Hayden Brown would end the

nearly two-year drought along with terrible 2021 luck, to score his first win of the

year with Galway collecting his 4th straight runner up finish. Dan Cook, Tyson

Slinger and Matt Boal rounded out the top 5.

It has been a great start to the season for Cornwall Ontario’s Brian McDonald and

it had also had been nearly 7 years since he last visited victory lane in the J and J

Automotive 358 Modified division at Brockville. He showed his muscle early on in

the 30-lap contest, as he took the lead using his favorite outside lane, over Lee

Ladouceur, Chris Herbison, Johnathon Ferguson and Ryan Arbuthnot. The

Cornwall native was strong and showed the field he meant business as he pulled

away to a big lead as Ladouceur tried at will to keep pace. In the meantime, Ryan

Arbuthnot was cutting through the field as he got by both Herbison and Ferguson

to get to third, but had a long way to go to catch the top 2 drivers. McDonald was

on cruise control and it looked as if he would cruise to an easy win as he led by

well over a straight away, but on lap 27 the caution flew as 5th place Tristan

Draper made heavy contact with an infield tire in turn one, ending his solid night.

On the final restart Brian McDonald was able to break away from the field and for

the first time since June 15th of 2013, would roll into victory lane at Brockville.

Lee Ladouceur finished a strong second over Ryan Arbuthnot, Johnathon

Ferguson and last week’s winner Kyle Dingwall.

Matt Billings has been on a roll in the 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Car division

recently. After winning the opener on July 3rd, Billings wasted no time grabbing

the lead at the drop of the green flag of the 20-lap event, with Dave McKnight,

Bryan Cloutier, Rick Wilson and Ryan Poole making up the top 5 spots early on.

Billings was flying around the top side of the speedway and showed no signs of

slowing down as behind him, Cloutier and McKnight put on a fantastic show for

the number two spot. Cloutier would take over 2nd but was going to need some

help to try and catch Billings. With 5 to go Billings would enter into traffic but the

Brockville native was perfect on this night, as he made it through the slower cars

with no issue. At the end of it all Matt Billings would go unchallenged scoring a

dominant win, his 2nd of the season, over Bryan Cloutier, Dave McKnight, Rick

Wilson and Ryan Poole.

Jarrett Herbison has been searching for speed in the J an J Automotive Sportsman

division and on this night he had it going as he charged to the lead at the drop of

the green over Jessica Power, Bobby Herrington, Gabriel Cyr and Shane Stearns.

Herbison was cruising around the high lane in the opening laps of the 25-lap

event, but points leader Bobby Herrington was on the move taking 2nd from

Power and quickly closing in on Jarrett Herbison by lap 10. The top three drivers

put on a great show for the fans as they worked through traffic. Herrington would

make his move for the lead just past the halfway off turn two and begin another

dominant performance. Herrington began to make his was through the traffic

while Power tried her best to get around Herbison for the second spot with Cyr

and Stearns trying to keep pace in 4th and 5th. With a few laps remaining

Herrington made slight contact with a lapped car resulting in a broken right front

shock tower, but it never slowed his progress. Bobby Herrington would once

again use skill and on this night, a little bit of luck to remain perfect, claiming his

4th win in a row at Brockville. Jarrett Herbison would hold on for 2nd with Jessica

Power scoring 3rd, along with her 10th consecutive top 5 finish over the last two

seasons. Gabriel Cyr and Ricky Thompson charged to 5th at the checkers.

The 20-lap night cap for the Vintage proved to be an epic battle and one of the

best races of the night. Randy Gaudet led early but Josh Powers and Steve Billings

were right there to challenge in the opening laps. As the top three put on a great

battle, Brandon Gregory and Tim Hegarty also started to close in making it a five-

car battle for position. Gaudet and Powers began to pull away and worked traffic

for the remainder of the event while Brandon Gregory, Steve Billings and Tim

Hegarty continued their great battle for position. In the closing laps Josh Powers

made several attempts on the high lane and would pull even with Gaudet on the

final lap. The top two raced wheel to wheel as they worked the final turns. Off of

turn 4 Josh Powers would pull alongside and by inches, would score his first

Vintage win of the year over Randy Gaudet, Steve Billings, Tim Hegarty and Chad

Lackie.

Dingwall makes last lap pass for Ogilvie’s Triple Crown 358 Modified triumph

By: Tim Baltz

For the second straight week the Brockville Ontario Speedway was forced to keep

the action going as Mother Nature was looking to ruin a second straight week of

racing, but track officials were up to the challenge and the fans were treated to

some great racing.

The night began with the first of two held over events from July 24th. The 15 lap

Novice Sportsman feature took to the speedway Justin Cyr wasted no time

grabbing the lead over Eric Loyer, Brennan Moore, Greg Brinklow and Nathan

Lambert. Cyr has been the dominant force in this division all season as he pulled

out to a comfortable margin in the early laps. After a caution on lap 3 slowed the

race Cyr was able to get a great restart and once again get a comfortable lead.

From this point forward Eric Loyer and Brennan Moore were not able to gain

ground as Justin Cyr would cruise to his third Novice Sportsman win in a row over

Eric Loyer, Brennan Moore, Greg Brinklow and Jordan Wood.

The 20 lap Street Stock event was next up and Todd Raabe wasted no time

grabbing the top spot away with Adam Turner, Brock Gregory, Shawn Hodge and

Nick Merkley giving chase. Raabe was in complete control of the field as he

charged to a huge lead with Adam Turner and Brock Gregory battling hard for 2nd

and third. Behind the top three the battle was on for fourth with Shawn Hodge

and Brock Cullen. On lap 13 those two would tangle resulting in a flat tire for

Cullen, who was forced to the pits. On the final restart Raabe would get a great

start and pull away for his 2nd straight win of the year. Adam Turner came across

in 2nd over Brock Gregory, Shawn Hodge and Nick Merkley.

The regular scheduled features saw the Mini Stocks hit the track for a 20-lap

contest. Kyle Gregory would grab the top spot early and lead the opening 4 laps of

the event. The potential shot at a win went away shortly after as he slowed in

turns three and four brining out the yellow. Dan Cook would take command of

the field on lap 8 and author another dominant performance with Hayden Brown

and Jarrod Galway chasing him from 2nd and 3rd. Hayden Brown’s night would

come to an end as he lost a motor on lap 12. On the restart Cook led as Galway

tried to keep pace. On this night it was not meant to be for Jarrod Galway or any

of the top runners and Dan Cook grabbed his 2nd win in a row over Galway, Pierre

Picard, Tyson Slinger and John Lamarche

In the opening laps of the 15 lap Novice Sportsman feature Justin Cyr grabbed the

lead and seemed destined to sweep the night, with Jordan Wood, Greg Brinklow,

Blayden Arquette and Brennan Moore making up the top 5 spots. Cyr would enter

into traffic on lap 10, which was exactly what second place driver Jordan Wood

was looking to have happen. On lap 12 the leader would tangle with the traffic

sending him spinning in turn 4. This left Jordan Wood to battle with Greg Brinklow

and Blayden Arquette for the win. On the final restart Jordan Wood laid down the

best laps of his young career and would march to his first ever win in Novice

Sportsman. Greg Brinklow would finish a strong 2nd over Blayden Arquette, Eric

Loyer and Justin Cyr.

Brock Gregory and Brock Cullen had a hard-fought battle during the 20-lap regular

night Street Stock feature event. Both drivers raced side by side until lap 8 when

they tangled on the front stretch with Gregory getting the worst damage with a

flat tire. On the restart Todd Raabe was once again in control of the event, over

Cullen and Adam Turner. With a fast car and clear race track Todd Raabe made it

look easy as he pulled away to another big lead. Brock Cullen and Adam Turner

did all they could to run do the leader, but on this night, Todd Raabe would go

unchallenged to sweep both Street Stock events on the night. Cullen and Turner

crossed in 2nd and 3rd with Brock Gregory coming from last to finish fourth and

veteran Gilles Mongeon completing the top 5.

The 40 lap Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series for the J and J Automotive Sportsman

took to the speedway and the number one question in 2021 has been, can

anyone beat Bobby Herrington. At the drop of the green Herrington was showing

that the answer was “NO” as he pulled out to a big lead over the field with Tyler

Stewart, Shane Stearns, Gabriel Cyr and Jessica Power completing the top 5 early

on. Herrington was setting a torrid pace and showed no signs of letting up while

behind him Stewart, Stearns and Power were in their own battle for positions in

the top 5. Stearns and Power would move to 2nd and third over Stewart but had a

long way to go to catch the leader. On lap 28 the big lead Herrington had would

go away when the yellow flew. On the restart Herrington once again pulled out to

a comfortable lead over Shane Stearns, Jessica Power Gabriel Cyr and Tyler

Stewart. Over the final dozen laps Bobby Herrington would drive away from a

quality field to claim his 3rd win in a row and 2nd straight Ogilvie’s Series win in as

many tries. Shane Stearns finished up 2nd with Jessica Power, Gabriel Cyr and

Tyler Stewart rounding out the top 5.

In the 50 lap Ogilvie’s Triple Crown for the J an J Automotive 358 Modifieds Brian

McDonald would use the top side of the track to lead the opening 4 laps over

Ryan Arbuthnot, Chris Raabe, Dylan Evoy and Kyle Dingwall. It was a great battle

among McDonald, Arbuthnot and Raabe as they ran all three lanes perfectly in

the early laps. Arbuthnot took the lead and looked to be the driver to beat as he

stretched his lead over McDonald, Raabe, Dingwall and Evoy. Once the race was

past the halfway point Kyle Dingwall started to pick up the pace as he eventually

got around Raabe for 2nd and with the help of a pair of yellow flags, was able to

get to the back bumper of Ryan Arbuthnot. On lap 31 Arbuthnot and Dingwall

would pull away from the field and make it known that this race would be settled

by these two drivers. The top two put on a great battle for the lead but Chris

Raabe was waiting for something to happen as he ran in the number three spot.

With two laps to go Dingwall would make his move to get alongside of Arbuthnot

off turn four. Arbuthnot would fend off the challenges but Dingwall added more

pressure at the white flag lap. Off of turn two Dingwall would get the advantage

and despite a late charge on the topside Ryan Arbuthnot would come up a half

car length short as Kyle Dingwall would grab his first Ogilvie’s Triple Crown win

since 2016 and his first win of the year at Brockville. Arbuthnot, Raabe, McDonald

and Dylan Evoy would complete the top five finishers.

Next week the J and J Automotive 358 Modified and Sportsman divisions will be

back along with the Novice Sportsman, Mini Stock, Street Stock, Vintage and the

1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Cars. For more information you can check out the

Jacob Dykstra outruns the field and Mother Nature for Brockville Crate Sprint

Car feature win

By: Tim Baltz

After a rainout one week ago at the Brockville Ontario Speedway track crews

were determined to put on a great show as 7 divisions were on the card. The fans

and evening sponsors Tackaberry Construction and Jim’s Performance Plus were

treated to a great evening of racing. However, Mother Nature had other plans

The 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Cars took to the speedway under threatening

skies and after a quick survey of the track drivers gave the thumbs up to go green.

Ryan Poole jumped into the early race lead over Jeffrey Weare Jacob Dykstra Matt

Billings and Lee Ladouceur. Poole looked very strong throughout the first half of

the race but Lightning Sprint car star Jeffrey Weare was putting the pressure on

Poole for the lead. At halfway Poole started to pull away but Jacob Dykstra was on

the move taking 2nd from Weare, then ran down Poole for the lead. On lap 13

Dykstra used the top side in turns 3 and 4 to grab the lead. From there Dykstra

would make his season debut memorable as he claimed the win over Ryan Poole

Jeffrey Weare, Matt Billings and Dale Curran Jr.

The J and J Automotive 358 Modifieds rolled trackside for their 30-lap feature but

the skies started to open up and the field was sent back to the pits. After a brief

delay staff and management had no choice but to call it a night. The remaining sic

features will be made up during the remainder of the season.

Next week it will be round number two of the Ogilvie’s Auto and Fleet Triple

Crown Series for the J and J Automotive 358 Modified and Sportsman divisions.

Novice Sportsman, Street Stock and Mini Stock will also be on the card. Racing

gets underway at 7pm. Ticket information and other news can be found on our

Herrington and Cyr Double up while Williamson Raabe and Cook claim season

firsts at Brockville

By: Tim Baltz

Another perfect night for racing as Superior Cellular and Sound was on hand for

the evenings action and the fans were treated to some exciting racing all night

long.

Ryan Arbuthnot took the lead from the pole at the start of the 30 lap J and J

Automotive 358 Modified feature, over Kyle Dingwall Mat Williamson Corbin

Millar and Brian McDonald. Arbuthnot had one of the fastest cars in the early laps

as he pulled away from the battle for second between Dingwall and Williamson.

By lap 10 Arbuthnot was into lapped traffic which would cause some tense

moments for the leader and was just what Williamson was looking to have

happen, as he tried his best to run down the leader. Williamson would get to the

back bumper of Arbuthnot in traffic, but the yellow flew on lap 11 for Corbin

Millar, who hit an infield tire in turn 2. He would return to finish 11th. When the

green flew it was clear that Williamson and Arbuthnot were going to settle the

race between them as the two drivers raced hard and even exchanged some paint

at times. On lap 17 a costly mistake occurred as Arbuthnot slipped wide in turn 4,

which allowed Williamson to take over the lead with Dingwall, Brian McDonald

and 358 Modified Rookie Johnathon Ferguson completing the top 5. Williamson

was looking to run away and hide but Chris Raabe slowed in turn 3 and the yellow

flew, which bunched the field up for the final restart. When the green flew

Williamson had saved his stuff for when it counted and despite the efforts of Ryan

Arbuthnot, it was not meant to be. Mat Williamson would back his Friday night

win at Ransomville up with his first win of 2021 in his first start of the year.

Arbuthnot was able to hold on to 2nd while Gary Lindberg came from deep in the

field to edge out Brian McDonald for third with Johnathon Ferguson rounding out

the top 5.

The 25 lap J and J Automotive Sportsman division saw great racing a week ago

and, on this night, it was no different. Jessica Power had a dominant performance

in her heat and was determined to do the same in the feature as she took the

lead away from pole sitter Jarrett Herbison, with Bobby Herrington, Gabriel Cyr

and Ricky Thompson completing the top 5. Power was fast at the start of the

event and would lead the opening 7 laps but the driver on the move early on was

third place starter Bobby Herrington. On lap 7 Herrington got to second and was

putting the pressure on Power for the lead. On lap 8 Herrington would use the

outside groove to get by in turn 4 and begin to author a dominant performance

like he did one week ago. On lap 9 Dale Gifford would collect and infield tire in

turn one bringing out the yellow, which also resulted in a flat time. On the restart

Herrington worked the bottom perfectly to take the lead but last weeks runner up

Dylan Kirkland was charging hard on the topside as he closed in on the top 2

drivers. Kirkland made a bid for 2nd in turn 3 on lap 13 but slid too high in turn 4

which allowed Gabriel Cyr to get back by, while Jarrett Herbison completed the

top 5. Herrington was the dominant driver all race long and despite the effort

from 2nd place driver Jessica Power, Bobby Herrington was too strong as has he

claimed his 2nd in a row in the J an J Automotive Sportsman division and third

straight win dating back to Cornwall on June 27th. Jessica Power finished 2nd and

claimed her 8th straight top 5 finish dating back to July of 2020. Dylan Kirkland,

Gabriel Cyr and Jarrett Herbison filled out the top 5.

In the 15 lap Novice Sportsman feature it was Elgin Ontario’s Brennan Moore

taking the lead with Justin Cyr and Eric Loyer completing the top 3 drivers early

on. Moore had a great car but Justin Cyr was looking to keep up with his winning

ways as he chased after Moore for the lead in the opening laps. On lap 4 Cyr

made his move to the lead and was the dominant force. It appeared Justin Cyr

was going to driver away to and easy win, but Kiera Turner would break the front

end in turn 3 ending her first night in the division. On the final restart it was no

contest as Justin Cyr would go unchallenged to claim his 2nd straight Novice

Sportsman win at Brockville. Eric Loyer crossed in third Jordan Wood 4th. Blayden

Arquette backed up his win at Mohawk on Friday night, with a 5th place finish.

The Street Stock 15 lap event saw excitement right from the beginning as Adam

Switzer would lose the motor in his ride, which caused some extensive track clean

up before the field went back to green. When the green flew, opening day winner

Brock Cullen would lead the way but Todd Raabe was on the charge and would

take the lead away on lap 4. From this point forward Brock Cullen and Keith

Riddell could do nothing with the leader, as Todd Raabe claimed his first win in his

first start of 2021. Cullen crossed in 2nd ahead of Keith Riddell and Bob Williams.

The 15 lap Mini Stock feature was exciting from the opening green flag as Jarrod

Galway lead early on over Dan Cook, Frank Belair Hayden Brown and Tyson

Slinger. Galway appeared to be well on his way to the feature win but a lap 7

restart saw something totally different. Dan Cook was able to put his car out in

front on lap 7, but the racing was far from over. As the laps clicked off Dan Cook

and Hayden Brown were making it difficult for Cook, to stay in front and the

battle was on. On the final lap heading to the checkered flag Galway made hard

contact with Cook but Dan Cook was not going to be denied as he charged to his

first ever win in the Mini Stock division at Brockville. Galway held on for 2nd with

Hayden Brown, Tyson Slinger and Frank Belair completed the top 5 finishers.

Next week the J an J Automotive 358 Modified and Sportsman divisions will be on

card along with Novice Sportsman, Mini Stock and Street Stock. It will also be the

return of the 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint cars for their 2nd event of the season.

Arbuthnot and Herrington return to Brockville Victory Lane with Ogilvie’s Series wins

By: Tim Baltz

The 2021 season officially began this past Saturday night at the Brockville Ontario Speedway. With new provincial restrictions in place, the speedway saw grandstand capacity of 25% and those in attendance saw some of the best racing in recent memory.

The 50 lap Ogilvie’s Auto and Fleet Triple Crown Series for the 358 Modified division took center stage and reigning track and series champion Ryan Arbuthnot wasted no time taking over the top spot, with Chris Raabe, Johnathon Ferguson, Gage Morin and Kyle Dingwall completing the top 5. Arbuthnot had a fast race car and started to open up a big lead early but Gage Morin was also on the move. The 2015 series champion was able to take away 2nd from Raabe, then began to run down the race leader. Just past the halfway point it became clear that Gage Morin and Ryan Arbuthnot were looking to settle the race amongst themselves as they pulled away from a quality field with Dingwall, Brian McDonald and Raabe completing the top 5. Morin was able to briefly take the lead after a miscue in turn 1 by the leader and it appeared Morin was on cruise control. With 20 to go Arbuthnot retook the top spot but Morin was not going away. On lap 40 that all changed as Morin clipped a pair of infield tires in turn two, which broke the front end on his ride, ending a great run. On the final restart Dingwall put all the pressure on Arbuthnot for the lead with Brian McDonald and Johnathon Ferguson having a spirited battle for 3rd and 4th. In the end Ryan Arbuthnot proved to be too strong as he marched on to score his 1st win since 2019 at The BOS. Dingwall’s strong 2021 season continued with a 2nd place effort. Brian McDonald Johnathon Ferguson and Tristan Draper with come through to complete the top 5 finishers.

In Sportsman 40 lap portion of the Triple Crown, Dylan Kirkland would take the lead at the drop of the green with Ryan Scott and Bobby Herrington making up the top three early on. Kirkland had a great car but Bobby Herrington was on the charge and would take over the top spot-on lap 8. From this point on Bobby Herrington would begin a dominant performance as he led by well over a straight away while behind him the battle was on for 2nd with Kirkland and Ryan Scott. The two drivers fought hard for position and worked lapped cars to perfection in the process as well as Kirkland would hold onto the position with Scott, Ricky Thompson and Fire Swamp giving chase. It appeared that Herrington was going to run off to victory without any pressure, until lap 31 when Trent Wallace slipped off turn one while running in the top 10. This bunched the field up and would give Kirkland one last chance to take over the lead. When the green flew Herrington hit the Greenshield Pest Control Restart Zone perfectly and was able to get the advantage over Kirkland, Scott, Thompson and Jessica Power making the move into the top 5. Without a yellow, nobody was catching Bobby Herrington on this night as he notched his first Sportsman win in many seasons at Brockville and also his first Ogilvie’s Sportsman Series win. Kirkland had a career best second place finish, with Ryan Scott, Ricky Thompson and Jessica Power completing the top 5.

The Mini Stock division had a quality field of drivers ready for 20 laps of racing, however they all were going to have to contend with James Clarke. At the drop of the green Clarke wasted no time going to the head of the field as he led over Jarod Galway and Justin Jodoin. On lap 4 the field came to a stop after a big hit by Hayden Brown, who hit the front stretch wall head on. Brown was ok but the car was towed to the pits and done for the night. On the restart Clarke was able to pull away as Galway and Jodoin continued their battle for 2nd with Marc Andre Voyer and Jamie Larocque completing the top 5. As the laps clicked off it appeared Clarke would cruise to the easy win but Justin Jodoin would slow in turn 3 while running in 3rd, ending his great night. When the green flew Clarke took the lead but Galway stayed close and tried to get by. In the end it was all James Clark as his would go on to claim his second straight opening day win at Brockville. Galway crossed in 2nd with Brandon McMillan rebounding from issues early in the race, to complete the top 3 finishers.

The Crate Sprint cars were set for a 20-lap event and this night belonged to a crowd favorite. Matt Billings would grab the top spot early on over Lee Ladouceur and Rick Wilson. Billings was on cruise control in the Ryan Hunsiger owned machine, but Ladouceur was doing all he could to keep pace. Behind the top 2 a great battle took place as Wilson and Ryan Poole battled hard for 3rd and 4th for nearly the entire event. On lap 17 that came to an end as both drivers tangled in turn 4 resulting in Wilson heading to the pits and out of the event. On the final restart Lee Ladouceur did all he could to get the lead, but Matt Billings proved to be too strong as he claimed his first career Crate Sprint car win after many Sportsman and 358 Modified victories. Ladouceur held on for 2nd with long time Sportsman driver Dan Ferguson completing the podium.

The Novice Sportsman class had a competitive field on hand and karting graduate Justin Cyr would dominate the 15-lap affair. Cyr took the lead at the drop of the green flag with Brennan Moore and Blayden Arquette completing the top three. Despite one caution on lap 6, Justin Cyr would go virtually unchallenged during the entire race to secure his first ever win in the Novice Sportsman class. Brennan Moore would finish his Brockville debut in 2nd with Eric Loyer, who is a two-time Novice Sportsman winner at Cornwall in 2021, completing the top three.

The Street Stock 15 lapper only saw one caution for Brock Cullen who spun in turn 4, but it did not mean his race was over. When the green returned early leader, Nick Merkley battled with Nick Gauvreau for the top spot. Merkley was in search of his first ever win but a spin on lap 7 ended that chance. On the final restart Brock Cullen was able to rebound and take over the lead from Gauvreau. From there Cullen would march on to claim the Street Stock feature.

Next week Superior Cellular and Sound along with J&J Automotive will be on hand for a full program of 358 Modified, Sportsman, Novice Sportsman, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks. Racing starts at 7pm. To pre-book your tickets, head to the schedule portion of our website at brockvillespeedway.com. Also be sure to give us a follow-on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Safety Training Car gives realistic experience for new Brockville Speedway

Safety Team

By: Tim Baltz

Race tracks in the northeast are always taking necessary precautions to protect

their drivers in case of an accident on a race night. Brockville Ontario Speedway

staff and management have done just that as the new safety training car was

finally put to use by the team at Medics For Events.

Several members of the MFE Team along with Promoters Paul and Cheryl

Kirkland, Head of DIRTCar Northeast Tech Inspection Mark Hitchcock and

Brockville Speedway Race Director Mike Kelly, all gathered for a special safety

training session with full emphasis on giving all members of the rescue team

simulated experience in extricating a driver from a race car and what to do at the

scene of the accident.

Kelly began the demonstration of the car describing various areas and key points

to focus on when the team first arrives at the accident scene, including locating

the main shut off switch, which a safety crew member can easily access to stop all

power to the car to avoid a serious situation following the accident. Veteran of 27

years behind the wheel of a Modified and Technical Director Mark Hitchcock, also

gave his insight as to what a driver would be going through and saying following

an accident.

Members of the Medics For Events team led by Tyler Savage, then went through

standard procedures on how to get the driver out as unlike on the highway,

cutting the top of the car off is not an option. “This was totally different than

what many of our team members are used to” said Savage after the training

session. He also added that “we are used to maybe cutting the car to make driver

extrication easier but you can’t do that with these cars, but our team did a great

job and we are ready for opening day.”

Race Director Mike Kelly constructed the car in the off season by using the drivers

compartment of a modified chassis along with parts and pieces which were

obtained from local race teams that they no longer used. “It’s built small enough

and light enough that it can be taken to other speedways in the back of a truck for

training if it’s needed.” Kelly said. “It was a build as you go kind of project and

there will be other things that will be added as time goes on, but this was good

enough to get the team basic training and they did a great job.”

A special thanks does go to several teams and businesses who contributed to the

construction of the safety car including J&J Automotive/Race parts, Kirkey Racing

Fabrication, King Edward Auto Parts, Dirt Outlaw Apparel, Total Race Supply,

EcoComfort Spray Foam, JPR Racing, Luke Stewart Racing, HG Graphic.

The staff and management at Brockville Speedway are happy to have the staff at

Medics For Events onboard as the official safety team in 2021.

Due to provincial COVID-19 restrictions Brockville Ontario Speedway has not

officially announced the first event of the season. Stay tuned to the tracks,

Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for instant updates and further

information can also be found on the official speedway website at

Greenshield Pest Control to continue support of Jessica Power Racing in 2021

By: Tim Baltz

The Jessica Power Racing team continues to gain support for the 2021 season as Greenshield Pest Control returns to the side of the number 52 Sportsman for a brand-new season.

Power had a solid season behind the wheel a year ago in a season that had many unknowns. In her six starts at the Brockville Ontario Speedway, she was a contender for the win every week which included two wins on the season and top five finishes in every event that was held for the Sportsman division at The BOS in 2020. Greenshield Pest Control has been successful with their business and will look for even bigger success from Jessica and her team as they make their return. Much like Greenshield is to their customers, the JPR team is determined and dedicated to achieving success every time they hit the track.

The JPR team are proud to have Greenshield Pest Control back for another season and will be shooting for the team’s first championship in the Sportsman class and look for many more trips to victory lane.

Greenshield Pest Control is a Kingston based pest control business which has been around for over 30 years and serves customers in Brockville, Perth and the Quinte region. They’ve performed over 200,000 wildlife and pest control services across Eastern Ontario and all team members are insured, licensed and certified in many fields including Industrial Weeds Technicians, Structural Pest Control, Bedbug Treatment, Bird and Wildlife Service and Seasonal Home Service. Greenshield has also become involved with Brockville Ontario Speedway and will be the official sponsor of the new Greenshield Pest Control Restart Zone beginning in 2021.

The 2020 season for the team saw great improvement especially under the hood of the number 52 Sportsman. Lafrance Performance assisted the team last year and the support proved to be successful as Jessica charged to a pair of feature wins at the Brockville Ontario Speedway in 2020 and never finished out of the top 5 in any event, including the end of the season Fall Nationals Mike LaSalle Memorial Sportsman feature, where she finished a solid 5th.

Jessica and her team say they were thrilled with how things went in 2020 with the help of Lafrance Performance noting that their performance under the hood improved greatly. With all the success a year ago, the support from Yves Lafrance, along with the driving talent that Jessica has behind the wheel, a lot of great things could happen for the team this upcoming season and Jessica looks forward to many more trips to victory lane and the team’s first Sportsman track championship.

Lafrance Performance is based out of Long Sault Ontario and provides support to many local racers. Company founder Yves Lafrance also builds and tunes engines on every form of racing machine from go karts to Monster Trucks. Lafrance has been building and tuning engines since he was 14 years of age and has since taken that knowledge and assisted many teams in all forms of motorsports.

Jarrett Herbison to Add Part Time 358 Modified Events in 2021

By: Tim Baltz

Since his career began in the go kart ranks several seasons ago Jarrett Herbison has been a force in the region. From his many wins and championships in the karting ranks, to his recent success in the DIRTcar Sportsman ranks, it brought the attention of a sponsor, which will help propel the young driver to the next level of his racing career.

Brent Karel from Limestone Limousine has come on board recently with the Herbison racing team and will join Herbison as car owners for select 358 Modified events for during the 2021 season, while he also continues the pursuit of joining his father Chris as a Sportsman track champion at the Brockville Ontario Speedway Saturday nights. Karel added that Jarrett has a bright future in the sport and look forward to his debut in the Modified on a part time basis as we prepare and learn before we go at it full time in 2022.

In the pandemic shortened 2020 season Herbison added to his career win total with a win at the Cornwall Motor Speedway on July 25th. One week later the hard charger from Brockville added a second checkered flag of the year at the Brockville Ontario Speedway. Herbison also had a solid performance in the TAS Racing Sportsman Series at Cornwall finishing 5th in points. He scored three top five finishes including his best career series finish of 2nd in the series opener on September 6th.

Just when the newly formed Bandit Racing Team will make its 358 Modified debut next season has not been decided at the present time and the team is hoping to land more sponsorship to run special 358 Modified shows following the regular season in 2021. With his father Chris still active and winning races in the 358 ranks, you can bet that all eyes will be on the popular father/son combination, as Jarrett rolls onto the speedway in his first event, next year.

Williamson Bags Ten Thousand in Fall Nationals Triumph at Brockville

By: Tim Baltz

Day two of the Dirt Outlaw Apparel Fall Nationals at the Brockville Ontario Speedway presented by Natures Reality Botanical Blends, Hoosier Racing Tire and VP Racing Fuel, was action packed on a cool evening. Returning faces took the spot light along with a first-time winner.

The night kicked off with the held over 25 lap Mini Stock feature saw Jarrod Galway charges to the lead in the early going over Dan Cook and Mark Packer. Galway was looking to join James Clarke as the only two-time winner and was firmly in control by over a straight away. On lap 13 the great run for Galway came to a halt with a flat tire. On the restart Brandon MacMillan would take over the lead from Dan Cook while Galway was on the charge from the back and headed to the front. Despite a late charge by Galway and Mark Packer it was not to be as Brandon MacMillan finally grabbed his first career Mini Stock win. Mark Packer would take 2nd with Jarrod Galway Dan Cook and Tyson Slinger completing the top 5.

The 96 lap Mike LaSalle Memorial for the 358 Modifieds saw a battle between Mike Bowman and Luke Whitteker in the early going with Kyle Dingwall Michael Parent and Mat Williamson giving chase. Whitteker had a strong car but dropped off the pace on the back stretch, and was pushed back to the pits under yellow. When the green flew Bowman showed the way but Mat Williamson was making a charge to the front as he took 2nd from Kyle Dingwall. From there it was a regular Saturday night Merrittville Speedway battle between Bowman and Williamson as the put on a show with Williamson taking the lead on lap 28. As Williamson led the other driver on the charge was defending race winner David Hebert, who made his way to the top 3 and was charging after Bowman for the 2nd spot. Hebert made the move to the runner up position by lap 48 but still had a lot of ground to make up on the leader as he used the extreme inside lane while leader Williamson worked traffic perfectly running around the top side. Several late race cautions slowed the event which put Hebert, Bowman, Dingwall and Chris Herbison within striking distance. On a lap 78 restart Williamson used the top of the speedway to take the lead and pull away from Hebert and Bowman one more time and appeared to be on his way to victory lane. As the laps wound down David Hebert closed in and narrowed the gap by 2 car lengths with 10 to go. As the leaders approached lapped traffic Hebert was looking to make his move but Williamson was able to use the lapped cars to his advantage to pull away from Hebert and head to the checkered flag. Mat Williamson had been shut out of victory lane in his few appearances in 2020, on this night he would return in a big way taking the $9600 pay day which, before the start of the green flag, saw an extra $400 dollars added by GR Environmental to the winner’s share making it an even $10,000 and his 2nd Fall Nationals win. David Hebert’s attempt at back to back Fall Nationals wins came up one spot short in 2nd with Mike Bowman, Kyle Dingwall and Steve Bernier completing the top 5.

The 50 lap Mike LaSalle Memorial Sportsman feature took to the speedway and Jessica Power was looking for the weekend sweep after winning the held over feature on Friday night. Power took the lead over Johnathon Ferguson Gabriel Cyr Even Racine and Jarrett Herbison.  The Kingston native held a comfortable lead in the opening laps running the bottom but Ferguson showed how fast the outside lane was as he took over the lead on lap 9 with Power and Racine left to battle for 2nd and 3rd. With Ferguson in control Even Racine made his way to 2nd and began to quickly close in on the leader and the Granby champion was on the move and looking for the lead. At the halfway point Ferguson was able to keep the top spot as behind the Power and Herbison battled for the number three spot with Scott McGill moving into the picture in 5th. Power and Herbsion made slight contact in turn 4 while battling for third allowing McGill to moved by and drive away as he looked to close in on the race leaders. On lap 36 the great run and a shot at victory came to an end for Even Racine as he slowed with a problem. On the restart Ferguson had a new challenger in the form of Gabriel Cyr who was on the move after getting by Scott McGill for second and the battle was on. Despite a late charge by Cyr, Johnathon Ferguson was not to be denied as he became the first driver since Chris Herbison to win back to back Fall Nationals Sportsman races. Cyr crossed 2nd over Scott McGill, Cedric Gauvreau, who rallied from an early spin to finish 4th with Jessica Power completing the top 5.

The Action Sprint Tour featuring the 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Cars was full of action and a few tense moments in the 20-lap event as well. Right at the start coming the down the front straight away a scary 4 car tangle occurred as Rob Neely, Adrian Stahle, Jordan Hill and Eric Gledhill al flipped hard sending the field of 26 cars scattering to avoid. Amazingly all driver were able to walk away from the wreck unharmed. The 2nd green flag flew and Jesse Costa took over the lead and would pull away in the opening 3 laps before another red flag flew for DJ Christie, who rolled his car in turn 2. Christie would climb out unhurt as well. When the race went back green Costa continued to lead over Darren Dryden while Rick Wilson moved to third and was on the charge to catch the leaders by lap 6. On lap 7 another scary moment took place as Dale Curran spun on the front straight away and Brett Strattford had no place to go and slammed into the side of Curran’s car while Brian Nanticoke flipped into the infield. Nanticoke would be ok as he climbed out along with Brett Strattford, however the red flag remained out for an extended period of time as Curran had to be extricated from the car. Due to injuries suffered in the accident Curran was taken to hospital no further updates are available at the time of this release. When the green flew once again it was Costa in control over Dryden and Wilson as they pulled away from the field. Costa and Dryden were able to put some distance between themselves and Wilson and were closing quickly on lapped traffic. On lap 13 the red was back out as Dave McKnight tangled with Jacob Dykstra sending McKnight airborne in turn 1 pirouetting several times and amazingly did not get upside down. McKnight and Dykstra would be ok but they were done for the night. When the green flew Jesse Costa would pull out to a comfortable lead over Dryden and Wilson Allan Downey and Johnny Miller. Downey would find the fast line in the closing laps and would take 3rd from Wilson but that was as far he got as Jesse Costa held on for his first Brockville win over Darren Dryden Allen Downey Rick Wilson and Johnny Miller.

The Quebec Lightning Sprints also saw a first-time winner in their 12th event of the 2020 season and their first ever appearance at Brockville. Much like the Action Sprint Tour, this race began with a four-car flip in turn one off the initial green flag. All drivers were able to climb out un hurt but an extensive clean up delayed the start of the 20-lap event. When the green flew Yves Girard led the way over Maxime Foley Jeffrey Weare Tomy Moreau and Michael Benoit. Girard had a fast race car and was pulling away from the field and looked to be on his way to his first win. As the laps wound down and no cautions Maxime Foley was able close in and make it close but Yves Girard would not be phased by the late charge as he drove a perfect race to score his first win of 2020 over Foley, Weare, Moreau and Benoit.

Continuing with the red flag theme the start of the 20 lap Street Stock feature saw Kacey Huffman lose control on the opening lap flipping several times in turn 3. Huffman was able to climb out un injured. Several yellow flags slowed the event at the beginning but it had no affect on Adam Turner as he led the way over Justin Ramsay Austin Reid and Todd Raabe. Turner nearly swept both Vintage and Street Stock events the previous night and was in control of the race but Todd Raabe was on the move as he charged to 2nd around Ramsay and set his sights on Turner for the race lead. Raabe would close quickly as Turner stayed on the bottom of the speedway as the laps clicked off. Heading into turn three on the final lap Todd Raabe drove his car deep into the corner but would run out of time. After winning the Vintage Modified feature Friday night, Adam Turner would become the third driver in Fall Nationals history to win in two different classes in the same weekend joining Danny Johnson and Erick Rudolph, taking the 20 lap Street Stock event over Raabe, Justin Ramsay Austin Reid and Tyler French.

Sebastien Beauregard would lead the early laps of the 20 lap Mini Stock event with Tommy Bailey and defending race winner Alexis Charbonneau. Bailey would take over the lead and appeared to be headed for victory. Just past the halfway point Alexis Charbonneau had problems as he collected an infield tire in turn 2 but was able to continue on and make an epic charge from the back of the field. Bailey would continue to lead the way but Sebastien Beauregard and James Clarke were giving him all he could handle. On lap 13 Tommy Bailey’s run came to an end in turn 4 ending his chance at victory. On the final restart James Clarke tried at will to get by Beauregard while Charbonneau was right there to challenge making it a three-car battle. Clark would get by off turn 4 with three laps to go and march on to his 3rd win of the season and his first at the Fall Nationals. Beauregard crossed in 2nd followed by Charbonneau, Marc Andre Voyer and Christopher Cordeau.

Doug O’Blenis Nick Sheridan and Adam Turner Begin Dirt Outlaw Apparel Fall Nationals Weekend with Huge Wins at Brockville

By: Tim Baltz

The 12th annual Dirt Outlaw Apparel Fall Nationals presented by Nature’s Reality Botanical Blends, VP Racing Fuels and Hoosier Racing Tires and Sponsored by BOB FM and the Recorder and Times, featured one of the busiest nights in the history of the event. Three regular scheduled events headlined the night, but race fans were also treated to 6 held over events from September 5th. The action did not disappoint.

In the held over 358 Modified feature from September 5th it was Mat Williamson jumping into the early lead in the 50 lap event with Luke Whitteker and Chris Raabe giving chase. The yellow would fly quickly as Ryan Arbuthnot would get turned around on the back stretch and with no place to go, Tristan Draper made heavy contact. Both cars were heavily damaged and were helped to the pits. Both drivers were ok. Mat Williamson seemingly had things going his way until a quick yellow on lap five slowed the field. Williamson, under caution, would slow his car to a stop and have to be pushed to pit road ending his night. This handed the lead to Luke Whitteker and the former track champion and Fall Nationals winner, made the most of the opportunity by pulling away from Chris Raabe, Lee Ladouceur, Mike Bowman and Madison Mulder. Whitteker who had struggled for the majority of the season would dominate the event and survive a late race restart to finally notch his first win of the year. Chris Raabe had his best finish of the year taking 2nd over Kyle Dingwall, Madison Mulder and Chris Herbison.

In Sportsman Jessica Power has had a fantastic season and she was also strong on this night, but Dylan Kirkland would steal the spot light taking the lead over Jarrett Herbison and Power. Herbison would charge to the lead but handling issues would affect his machine as he tried to hold on to the top spot. On lap 10 Herbison discovered the issue with his ill handling, as the right front would go flat ending his great run. Jessica Power took the lead on the restart and was in full control of the field with a fast race car on a very fast track. Johnathon Ferguson also was on the charge as he made his way to 2nd but had some work to do to catch Power. With a great handling car and Johnathon Ferguson not able to close the gap, Jessica Power would dominate the final half of the race, becoming the first two-time feature winner of the season taking the 25 lap event. Ferguson crossed 2nd over Dylan Kirkland, Scott McGill and Gabriel Cyr.

Luke Stewart in 2020 has been the driver with the worst luck when it came to the 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Car division as he has been shut out of victory lane all year. In the held over 25 lap event Stewart would jump to the lead over Dave McKnight and Allan Downey. Stewart’s car was on rails and with a fast car and no caution flags, the rest of the field had zero chance of catching the long time Modified driver as he broke through for his first career Crate Sprint Car win in the caution free race. Dave McKnight and Allan Downey filled out the podium.

Fire Swamp had been the story maker in the Sportsman ranks in 2020 and on this night it was no different. Swamp took the lead at the start of the 15 lap event but Andrew Young was putting the pressure on and giving Swamp all he could handle. Despite the efforts from Young, Fire Swamp proved to be too much as he scored his third Rookie Sportsman win of 2020 over Young and Blayden Arquette.

Todd Raabe was looking to keep his great season going and remain perfect on the year but it was Kyle Massey stealing the spot light in the 20 lap event as they held the top two spots with Terry Gorgerat completing the top three in the opening laps. Massey would take the lead from Raabe and was looking to grab career win number one. The veteran Raabe was not about to let that happen as he charged back by the leader with 5 laps remaining and would hold it the rest of the way to score his 4th win in a row. Kyle Massey scored the runner up spot over Denis Hamel, Brock Cullen and Peter Raabe.

Randy Gaudet was the star of the show in the 25 lap Vintage Modified feature, taking the lead early on over Jason Powers and Ryan Comeau. Gaudet and the rest of the top three were very quick and caught lapped cars early, which resulted in an early night for Gaudet, who tangled with traffic ending his night with a broken front end.  From here Jason Powers, Ryan Comeau, Josh Powers and Matt Barbour all battled hard for the lead but a fast track and hard racing would cause them issues in turns one and two. While fighting for the lead Powers and Comeau tangled in turn two as Josh Powers snuck by for the lead. Matt Barbour was not able to avoid contact and got collected in the mix up. All three cars were taken to the pits. In the end Josh Powers would lead the final laps in dominant fashion to record another Vintage win in 2020 over Steve Billings and Tim McColman. Kayla Charland claimed top honors as the highest finishing 50s and 60s car.

The Street Stocks kicked off the regular portion of the 12th annual Dirt Outlaw Apparel Fall Nationals and former Sportsman star at Brockville and current Canadian Modified driver at Brighton Speedway Doug O’Blenis was in control, in the same car that carried car owner Jeff Humphrey to the win a year ago, over Adam Turner, Austin Reid, Shawn Gregory and Rob Murray. O’Blenis was determined to get his first ever Brockville win but Adam Turner was hard charging as he put the pressure on O’Blenis in the opening laps. Shawn Gregory was also in the mix as he charged to third making it a three-way battle for the lead as these drivers put on a great show for the fans. On lap 21 the yellow flew as Todd Raabe tangled with Angie Kirby in turn 2 ending their nights and Raabe’s bid for 5 wins in a row. On the final restart O’Blenis was holding the lead while Turner was giving him all he could handle, but on this night, it was not meant to be. After several years of trying Doug O’Blenis finally put it all together claiming the big Fall Nationals Street Stock win over Adam Turner, Shawn Gregory, Peter Raabe and Patrick Easton.

The first ever event for the 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprints took center stage and it was action packed at the start of the night. On lap two Luke Stewart saw his bid for back to back wins go away as he spun in turn two. On the restart Jacob Dykstra had a scary moment as he would get out of shape and flip his car wildly in turn two bringing out the red. Dykstra would climb out without injury. In the midst of all that Nick Sheridan would assume the lead and have a dominant race car over Dave McKnight and DJ Christie. Sheridan who had never seen the track before this night, was driving like a veteran as he pulled away from a quality field. In the final laps Eric Gladhill would make a late race run as he charged to 2nd, but that was as far as he would get in the 25 lap contest. Nick Sheridan drove a perfect race as he became the first ever Fall Nationals Crate Sprint Car Champion. Eric Gladhill crossed in 2nd over Lucas Smith, DJ Christie and Darren Dryden.

After struggles early in the night Jason Powers was looking for redemption in the regular scheduled feature for the Vintage Modifieds as he took the lead with Adam Turner and Sheldon Hoogwerf giving chase. The lead was short lived as Turner, who was hired to driver the Brian Billings ride mere minutes before the start of the heat races, would take the top spot in traffic as he made great move in turn one. Powers was looking to get back to the leader but the laps were clicking off fast leaving little time for him to get there. After a let down finishing 2nd in the Street Stock evet in his own car earlier, Adam Turner would make up for it as the hired gun for the Billings team would notch his first ever Vintage win and first win at the Fall Nationals after years of trying. Powers settled for 2nd over Sheldon Hoogwerf, Tim Hegarty took the Ovide Doiron replica car to a fourth-place finish with Chad Lackie finishing 5th. Pat Charland would be credited with a win as the highest running 50s and 60s machine.

Night two of the Dirt Outlaw Apparel Fall Nationals takes center stage with another seven feature races including a 96 lap Mike LaSalle Memorial for the 35 Modifieds paying $9600 to the winner plus a 50 lap Mike LaSalle Memorial for the Sportsman paying $960 to the feature winner. Both races also have several contingency bonuses as well. Also on the card the Street Stocks are back, Vintage, Action Sprint Tour featuring the 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Cars, Quebec Lightning Sprints and Mini Stocks. If that isn’t enough, the Mini Stocks will pull a double dip as they will run their held over feature from September the 5th as well. Seven feature races will surely provide great action, to finish off the 2020 Fall Nationals.

A special thanks also goes out to the following who added contingency bonuses in all divisions for the September 5th show:

Ferguson Authors Dominant Performance in First Sportsman Win at Brockville

By: Tim Baltz

Another night of racing action continued this past Saturday at the Brockville Ontario Speedway. Five divisions provided some great racing with familiar faces returning to victory lane.

The 25 lap Sportsman feature saw Jessica Power and Johnathon Ferguson lead the field to green with Power gaining the advantage into turn one with Ferguson close by in 2nd while Jarrett Herbison, Dale Gifford and Dan Ferguson rounded out the top 5. Power and Ferguson would battle side by side for the opening 4 laps before Ferguson would gain the advantage down the back stretch. With a fast race track Ferguson combined driving skill with a great race car to pull away by over a straight away over Power with Herbison, Dale Gifford and Dan Ferguson battling for a top 5 position. With 10 laps remaining Ferguson was working the speedway perfectly and traffic was no issue as he continued his march to a potential 15th career Brockville Sportsman win as Power tried all she could to keep close. The race looked like it was going caution free until lap 23 when Shane Stearns slowed on the back stretch. On the final restart Ferguson get the jump he was looking for with Power right there in 2nd. Johnathon Ferguson would make 2 quality laps and get the job done scoring the win, which moved him to 6th on the BOS Sportsman all time win list. Jessica Power backed up her win last week with a 2nd place effort over Jarrett Herbison, Cedric Gauvreau and Dan Ferguson.

In the 20 lap Mini Stock event Teddy Baird would take over the top spot at the drop of the green flag over Tommy Bailey, James Clarke, Hayden Brown and Mike Gaucher. Baird looked strong in the early going but Bailey and Clarke would be right there to challenge throughout the event. By lap 10 Baird, Bailey and Clarke pulled away and were looking to settle this between themselves. On lap 12 as the leaders entered traffic James Clarke would make the move for the lead heading into turn one and get by Baird as Tommy Bailey continued to round out the top 3. As the laps wound down Clarke showed no signs of letting up as Baird and Bailey continued their battle for 2nd with Hayden Brown and Mike Gaucher completing the top 5. James Clarke proved unbeatable on this night as he cruised to his 2nd win of the 2020 season at Brockville over Teddy Baird, Tommy Bailey, Mike Gaucher and even though he suffered a flat right rear tire, Hayden Brown would hold on for a 5th place finish.

In Street Stock action Todd Raabe was looking to remain perfect as he took the lead at the drop of the green in the 20-lap feature over Adam Turner and Nick Jones. Raabe would lead the opening 5 laps until Denis Hamel and Nick Merkley tangled on the front stretch which also collected Kyle Massey who suffered heavy rear end damage and was out for the night. On the restart Raabe remained up in front as Turner, who has plenty of laps in multiple divisions at the speedway, stayed close by in the runner up spot. Raabe had a dominant race car and would lead by well over a straight away while Turner, Jones, Angie Kirby and Nick Gauvreau completed the top 5. Todd Raabe would go unchallenged the rest of the way and despite a close call with a spinning car on the front stretch coming to the checkered flag, Raabe would collect his third straight win over Adam Turner, Nick Jones, Angie Kirby and Nick Gauvreau.

After blowing a motor the previous night at the Can Am Speedway in Limited Sportsman action, opening day winner Fire Swamp, would take the lead at the beginning of the 15 lap Rookie Sportsman feature over Michael Delormier and Blayden Arquette. Swamp and Delormier would be the class of the field throughout the event until a late caution flew bunching the field up for a late race restart. When the final green flag flew Fire Swamp would remain in control as the handling began to go away on Michael Delormier’s ride with Arquette holding onto third. At the checkered flag Fire Swamp would drive on to take his 2nd feature win of the season over Delormier, Arquette, Trent Wallace and Holly Denard would round out the top 5.

The 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint cars came to the line for a 25-lap feature event and Luke Stewart who has been fast all season, took the lead at the drop of the green flag over Ryan Hunsinger, Dave McKnight and Austin Reid. Stewart was fast right out of the gates and pulled away from the field and looked to be headed to his first ever win at Brockville until he started to slow coming into turn one. Ryan Hunsinger took full advantage and grabbed the lead as Stewart slowed to the pits with a mechanical issue, ending his chance for a win. Hunsinger would take over command of the event and would go unchallenged and would finally claim his first Crate Sprint Car feature, and become the third different winner in three events. McKnight settled for 2nd while Austin Reid’s Sprint Car debut resulted in a third-place finish.

Next week the 358 Modifieds return to the line up at The BOS along with the Sportsman, Rookie Sportsman, Street Stock, Mini Stock and 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Cars. Power Wins Brockville Sportsman Thriller with Last Lap Pass Bernier Scores First Brockville 358 Modified Checkered Flag

By: Tim Baltz

The third event of the 2020 season sponsored by Natures Reality and Polite Sand and Gravel at the Brockville Ontario Speedway, saw intense racing and a few familiar faces in the winners circle this past Saturday night. With no points on the line it was all about getting the checkered flag and drivers we doing what they had to do to get it.

The 35 lap 358 Modified feature saw a variety of invaders along with local favorites. Perth Ontario’s Corbin Millar and Quebec stand out Steve Bernier paced the field with Millar getting the best of Bernier for the lead. The two battled side by side with Bernier getting the advantage at the end of lap 1 with Mat Williamson, Gary Lindberg and Ryan Arbuthnot giving chase. Bernier had a fast car and would lead the opening 5 laps until a quick yellow flew as Pete Bicknell slowed with a problem on the backstretch, which bunched up the field for a restart. When the green flew it was Bernier again in control but Mat Williamson was on his back bumper and putting on the pressure for the lead. Over the next 20 laps Bernier and Williamson put on a great show changing lanes at either end of the speedway while behind them Ryan Arbuthnot and Gary Lindberg staged a great battle for 3rd and 4th while Millar continued his strong night completing the top 5. Bernier used the bottom lane and continued to lead as Williamson tried at will to make something happen on the top side but could not get by the leader. On lap 26 Joe Banks slid off turns 3 and 4 bringing out the yellow. When the green flew it remained Bernier, Williamson and Lindberg in the top 3 with Arbuthnot 4th and Chris Herbison would make an appearance into the top 5 and tried to run down Arbuthnot for 4th. As the laps wound down and traffic came into play Bernier and Williamson continued their battle for the lead. Despite several attempts to get by for the top spot, Steve Bernier proved to be too strong holding off the defending Super DirtCar Series Champion to claim his first ever Brockville 358 Modified win. Williamson settled for a hard-fought 2nd place run over Gary Lindberg, Ryan Arbuthnot and Chris Herbison.

Gabriel Cyr notched his first career win a year ago at Brockville and he was determined to claim another one as he led early in the 25-lap event over Johnathon Ferguson and Jessica Power. These three drivers were the dominant forces early on in the opening 5 laps before the yellow flew for Evan Reynolds who was running in the 4th spot, lost the handle off the backstretch and the yellow flew. The 2019 Rookie Sportsman Champion returned for a 7th place finish. On the restart it was Cyr in control again but Jessica Power made her way forward as she battled Ferguson for 2nd with Brent Kelsey and Xavier Andrews completing the top 5. After a spirited battle Power was able to clear Ferguson and set her sights on the race leader. As the laps clicked off the handling on Cyr’s race car began to go away which allowed Power to get within striking distance. On lap 18 the great top 5 run for Brent Kelsey came to an end as he broke the front end on his race car, and the yellow flew again. When the green flew it was still Cyr in control while Power and Ferguson remained close, waiting for the leader to make a mistake. With 5 laps remaining Cyr’s car developed a push in turns three and 4 and Power closed quickly, and the battle was on. Coming to the white flag Cyr pushed wide in turn 4 as Power took advantage and led at the line by a half car length. Power was able to clear Cyr down the backstretch and never looked back and after spending the last few seasons competing at Fulton Speedway on Saturday night, she returned to victory lane for the first time since June 22nd of 2013 in the Sportsman division at Brockville. Cyr held on for 2nd over Ferguson, Jarrett Herbison and Xavier Andrews.

The biggest field of the evening saw 20 Vintage Modifieds come to the green flag for a 25-lap feature. From the drop of the green flag two drivers who have been dominant in the Vintage class, Jason Powers and Randy Gaudet, made a statement as the took the top two spots in the early going. Powers and Gaudet pulled away from the field until lap 9 when the yellow flew for Brandon Gregory as he spun off the back stretch. Gregory would recover for a 9th place finish. On the restart no change as Powers and Gaudet remained in the top 2 spots with Tim McColman, Matt Barbour and Pete Stapper completing the top 5. Powers would be the first to catch lapped traffic which played right into the hands of Gaudet as he charged to the high lane and would lead by a half car length near the half way point. Powers would rally back through the traffic and hold off Gaudet while Tim McColman Matt Barbour and Pete Stapper continued their battle for top 5 positions. On lap 22 The leaders encountered heavy traffic and Randy Gaudet saw the opportunity and made a big move to clear the traffic and take the lead in the process. Gaudet would charge on to his first ever Vintage win at Brockville and third overall, adding to his two Cornwall victories this season. Jason Powers would cross in 2nd with Matt Barbour claiming third over Tim McColman and Pete Stapper.

Cameron Lane would lead at the start of the 15 lap Rookie Sportsman feature over Michael Delormier, Bentley Gray, Fire Swamp and Stephane Fournier. Lane would lead the opening three circuits before Delormier would make the pass for the lead and try to run away from a quality field. On lap 4 a tangle in turn 4 involving Fournier and Trent Wallace, who was making his debut, saw the yellow fly and both drivers head to the pits with heavy front-end damage. Back at the front when the green flew it was still Delormier and Swamp leading the field with Bentley Gray, Andrew Young and Cameron Lane completing the top 5. Delormier had a fast car and was looking to make the final laps go by fast but Nathan Lambert would bring out the final yellow on lap 11 as he hit a tire in turn 1 and destroyed the front end on his car. Lambert was towed back to the pits. On the final restart Fire Swamp tried to keep pace but Michael Delormier was too strong as he marched on for his 2nd straight Rookie Sportsman win. Swamp held on for 2nd over Bentley Gray, Andrew Young and Blayden Arquette.

The Mini Stock 15 lapper almost started with a crash and ended up becoming one of the best saves in recent memory. Teddy Baird led the way with Yan Potvin close behind, as the field headed into turn three the top two drivers made contact causing Baird to turn completely sideways and some how was able to save it and only lose the top spot as Potvin snuck by for the lead. Potvin’s lead was short lived as he suffered damage after the contact on the opening lap and was forced to the pits. Baird took over the top spot on lap 6 but Jamie Larocque and Jarrod Galway closed quickly to try and get by Baird for the lead. On lap 12 the lead battle would end as Baird and Larocque came together in turns three and four ending their shot at victory, as the yellow flew. On the final restart Jarrod Galway would make the most of this opportunity as he would lead the final laps and hold off new comer Ian Reid by a car length to record his first win of the season. Reid claimed his best ever finish of 2nd with Curtis Lindsay, Dave Watchorn and Mark Packer completing the top 5.

In Street Stock the 15-lap feature was dominated by Todd Raabe and Shawn Hodge as they battled hard in the opening laps for the lead with Jeff Bode completing the top 3. Hodge was in search of his first career win while Raabe was looking to make it two in a row in the Street Stock ranks. Hodge would battle hard but on lap 11, would suffer a right rear flat tire which ended his shot at a possible first career win. From there it as no contest as Todd Raabe cruised to a dominant win over Jeff Bode and Bob Simpson.

Gary Lindberg Dominates 358 Modified Field at 1000 Islands RV Summer Sizzler

By: Tim Baltz

The 1000 Islands RV Summer Sizzler at the Brockville Ontario Speedway this past Saturday night lived up to its name, Sizzling. Temperatures reached to the mid-thirties with the humidity which took its toll on both the track itself, as well as the drivers behind the wheel.

In the 35 lap 358 Modified feature event Madison Mulder battled for the lead with Merrittville Speedway invader Gary Lindberg at the start if the event with Ryan Arbuthnot, Austin Wood and Mike Bowman completing the top 5. It didn’t take long for the first caution to fly as a three-car tangle in turn one involving Chris Raabe, Johnathon Ferguson and Joe Banks took place. Raabe would need some assistance back to the pits while Banks and Ferguson were able to continue. On the restart Mulder took the lead again but Lindberg would use the middle line through turns three and four to grab the lead while Arbuthnot, Wood and Bowman continued their early race success completing the top 5. Once in front Gary Lindberg would stretch the advantage to over a straight away leaving many to wonder if he could be caught. On lap 16 Lindberg still held the lead as all drivers would migrate to the bottom of the speedway making passing tough. On lap 17 the great run for Madison Mulder would end as he slowed off turn 4, bringing his ride to the infield. Once the green came back out Lindberg once again was the driver in charge over Arbuthnot and Bowman, but behind them 2017 Brockville Champion Luke Whitteker was trying to make the outside lane work and he did just that as he pulled even with Pete Bicknell in a battle for 5th. Bicknell would fend off Whitteker and charge after Austin Wood for the 4th spot. On lap 23 the yellow flew for Corbin Miller who spun in turns three and four. On the restart Lindberg once again would get a great launch charging to a 4-car length lead over Arbuthnot, Bowman, Wood and Kyle Dingwall. With 5 to go it appeared Gary Lindberg was on his way to an easy win, but the caution flew for Dylan Evoy who spun off the top side of turn 3. On the final restart Lindberg was not to be denied as he pulled away in the final laps to secure his first ever Brockville 358 Modified feature win. Ryan Arbuthnot held on for 2nd with Mike Bowman, Luke Whitteker and Pete Bicknell would make a late charge from 7th to finish out the top 5.

The 25 lap Sportsman feature took the green flag with Jarrett Herbison taking the top spot over Cedric Gauvreau, Xavier Andrews, Ryan Stabler and Jessica Power. The green flag would quickly be replaced by the caution at the completion of lap one as Mario Genest clipped an infield tire breaking the front end on his ride, ending his night early. When the green flew Herbison remained in front but once again the caution would fly by lap three for a pile up in turn 1. All drivers would pull away and be able to continue. Herbison got a great jump when the green flew once again with Jessica Power making a big move from 4th to 2nd getting by both Gauvreau and Andrews. The top two drivers began to run away from the filed and hold their own battle for the lead. Power would get to the back bumper but the inside lane was dominant on this night as Herbison remained up front and in control. As the laps wound down Jarrett Herbison seemed like he was well on his way to his 2nd win in the span of a week, however the yellow flew on lap 16 bunching up the field for another restart. When the green flew Herbison remained in front but Cedric Gauvreau went on the attack taking 2nd back from Jessica Power but had some work to do to get by Herbison for the lead. In the final laps Jarrett Herbison was rock solid as he held off both Gauvreau and Power to claim his third career Brockville Sportsman win. Behind the top three Xavier Andrews scored a 4th place effort with Dave Wilgosh getting by Ryan Stabler for a 5th place finish.

Ryan Hunsinger was dominant at the start of the 25 lap 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Car feature with Jacob Dykstra and Darren Dryden giving chase. Hunsinger used the bottom lane to his advantage and was able to pull away from the field in the opening laps. An early yellow came out on lap 3 as Dave McKnight Jr. lost the handle on his ride in turn 4. When the green returned it was Hunsinger in control over Dykstra and Dryden with DJ Christie and Brett Stratford completing the top 5. On lap 9 Jeffrey Weare, who was making his Crate Sprint car debut, tangled with Tyler Ward on the backstretch ending their nights early. On the restart Hunsinger remained in control but DJ Christie was on the move rim riding around the outside of the speedway as he closed in on the top 3. Up in front Hunsinger continued his great driver but be hind him a tangle between Jacob Dykstra and Darren Dryden forced Dryden off the track in turn one and the yellow flew once again. On the restart Hunsinger led but DJ Christie was on the move as he took 2nd from Dykstra and reeled in Hunsinger as the two put on a spirited battle for the lead. After using patience DJ Christie would move around Hunsinger with five laps to go to take over the lead. From there it was no contest as DJ Christie would cruise to the win over Hunsinger, Luke Stewart came from 11th on the grid to finish in third over Jacob Dykstra and Adrian Stahle.

It was no surprise to anyone in the grandstands or the competitors that James Clarke would take the early lead as the 25 lap Mini Stock feature took to the speedway with Yan Potvin, Jarrod Galway, Mike Gaucher and Justin Jodin. Clarke was on cruise control and looking to remain undefeated in Mini Stock action at both Cornwall and Brockville in 2020. On lap 4 Brandon McMillan would slow to a stop on the front stretch bringing out the yellow. As the green flew it was Clarke in control but veteran Mike Gaucher would make his way to second and the battle was on for the lead. On lap 9 Gaucher would flex his muscle as he took over the top spot and from there the top two drivers would put on a show for the fans as they cut through slower cars with neither driver letting up. Behind them Justin Jodin was on the charge taking the number three spot from Yan Potvin with Jarrod Galway completing the top 5. On lap 16 new comer Ian Reid would go for a spin in turn 4 bringing out the yellow, Reid would recover for an 8th place finish. On the final restart Gaucher and Clarke continued their battle for the win but Justin Jodin would close in and make it a three-car battle for the top spot. On the final lap Gaucher led but Clarke was determined to get the lead. In turn one Clarke and Gaucher made slight contact but not enough to rattle Gaucher as he held off the charge from James Clarke to score the win over Clark, Jodin, Yan Potvin and Brandon McMillan would rebound from early race struggles to round out the top 5. Oddly enough, Gaucher would receive a $50 bonus for hard charger on the night, which was put up for grabs by….yes the James Clarke JML 2X race team.

In the 15 lap Rookie Sportsman feature Fire Swamp once again looked to be in complete control of the field as he led early on over Michael Delormier, Blayden Arquette, Andrew Young and Stephane Fournier. Swamp would lead the opening 5 laps until the yellow flew as Holly Denard spun in turn 3. She would be able to continue on. When the green flew Swamp remained in front but Michael Delormier was on the move taking 2nd from Young and quickly reeled in Swamp for the lead. With 5 laps to go Delormier was able to get alongside Swamp in turn one as they battled for the top spot. Swamp drove a bit too hard into the turn and slipped off the high side, allowing Delormier to drive away. At the checkered flag Michael Delormier would score his first Brockville win over Swamp, Andre Young, Blayden Arquette and Stephane Fournier.

Cedric Gauvreau survives Green White Checkered finish for first Brockville Sportsman win

By: Tim Baltz

The moment everyone was waiting for at the Brockville Ontario Speedway, opening day finally was able to become a reality as six classes were in action this past Saturday night. With government restrictions being lifted as of this past weekend, up to 100 fans were allowed to take in the action in the grandstands and the drivers were determined to put on one of the best shows in track history.

The Draper Doors Sportsman headlined the night for a 30-lap event which began with four cautions in the opening four laps, all for separate spins. Kalen Draper, Ryan Buzzell and Dylan Kirkland all had problems getting through turn three while Geneva Sheffield lost the handle on her car in turn two. When the drivers settled into a groove and began to click off laps Xavier Andrews led early on but he had a challenger in the form of Cedric Gauvreau. The Chelsea Quebec native moved around Andrews for the lead while Scott McGill took over the 2nd spot by lap 8. Once in front Gauvreau was the dominant force as he pulled away but Johnathon Ferguson was making his way forward. Ferguson took 2nd from McGill by lap 10 and started to reel in the leader as they entered traffic. On lap 14 Domonick Merkley went off the back stretch and the yellow flew again. On the restart Ferguson was able to jump out front and appeared to be the fastest car out there but Cedric Gauvreau would make a come-back. On lap 17 Gauvreau made his way back by Ferguson on the top side to reclaim the lead and begin to pull away with Andrews holding 3rd over Scott McGill and Brent Kelsey moved from 12th to 5th at this point. As the laps clicked off Gauvreau entered traffic again bringing Ferguson, Andrews and Jessica Power to the lead battle. On lap 28 the final yellow flew setting up a key restart. When the green flew Gauvreau was able to get away by two car lengths but Ferguson did not give up. On the final lap heading into turn three Johnathon Ferguson drove deep into turn three but was not able to complete the pass as Cedric Gauvreau charged to his first ever Brockville win and third of his Sportsman career. Ferguson crossed in 2nd with Jessica Power earning the Pirie Insulation hard charger bonus coming from 21st to finish 3rd, Xavier Andrews and Brent Kelsey rounded out the top 5.

In Street Stock action it was Brockville versus Brighton throughout the 25-lap affair and Justin Ramsey was looking for redemption after his Fall Nationals heartbreak a year ago as he took the lead from early pace setter Adam Turner with Shawn Hodge, Todd Raabe and Jeff Humphrey. Ramsey had the fastest car in the early laps and looked to have the race well in hand as he pulled away to nearly a straight away before the halfway point. On lap 13 Ramsey continued to lead but Todd Raabe was on the move jumping to second while behind him Austin Reid was making his way to the front as well as he took over third. On lap 14 Nick Gauvreau experienced problems on the back stretch and the yellow flew. On the restart it was Raabe who took command of the field with Ramsey falling to second over Reid, Wade Purchase and Adam Turner. As the laps wound down Raabe and Ramsey were locked in a great battle for the lead and it would tighten up even more as the yellow flew for Nick Gauvreau again on the back stretch. On the final restart Raabe was able to keep the lead but Justin Ramsey and Wade Purchase made one final charge. Off turn 4 coming to the line Ramsey made the move down low but Raabe kept the momentum and scored the big win over Ramsey, Purchase, Austin Reid and Adam Turner.

The Rookie Sportsman 15 lap event saw a dominant performance by Fire Swamp as he led the opening laps over Andrew Young and Michael McKay. Swamp was on a roll having won the Limited Sportsman feature the previous night at the Can Am Speedway, and was looking to claim his 2nd career win in the same weekend. Young was able to clear McKay for 2nd and started to close in on Swamp as he entered lapped traffic. With 5 to go lapped cars became the only thing that was stopping Swamp as both he and Young were trying to find their way by. With 2 to go Swamp used the extreme outside lane and cleared all traffic leaving Young behind. From there it was no contest as Fire Swamp marched on to his first Brockville win in his first ever start. Over Andrew Young, Michael McKay, Nathan Lambert and Holly Denard.

The Mini Stock event saw James Clarke jump to the top spot in the early going of the 25-lap contest, over Justin Jodin, Tyson Slinger, Jamie Larocque and Dustin Bode. It didn’t take long for the first yellow to fly as Rock St. Amour blew the motor in his machine on lap 3. On the restart it was still Clarke in control over Jodin as these two drivers would drive away from the field, showing they were the cars to beat. Behind them Slinger, Larocque and Bode were locked in a great battle for 3rd, 4th and 5th. On lap 14 the yellow flew again as John Lamarche lost a right front tire heading into turn 4 but was able to drive the car to the pits and get the tire changed. On the restart James Clarke was not challenged as he drove off from the field over Jodin, Larocque, Bode and Jarrod Galway making his way into the top 5 for the first time all night. Over the remaining laps James Clarke was too strong and would drive on to his first Brockville win and remain undefeated in all three Mini Stock features held between Brockville and Cornwall in 2020. Justin Jodin finished 2nd with Jamie Larocque 3rd, Dustin Bode collected the Hard Charger award from G&L Racing for a 4th place run with Jarrod Galway crossing 5th.

In the Vintage feature Sheldon Hoogwerf would use his pole starting position to take the lead early in the 25-lap event but as quick as Hoogwerf got the lead, the yellow would also come out as Tim McColman slowed with a broken front end in turn 2. When the green flew Hoogwerf continued to lead but Jason Powers was right there to challenge. Powers, the 2010 Brockville Speedway Vintage Champion, would make his way by Hoogwerf with Pete Stapper now third over Steve Billings and Randy Gaudet. Powers had the fastest car on track and built up a comfortable lead by lap 12. At the half way point the yellow flew as Pete Stapper spun in turns one and two. One lap later his night came to an end after clipping a tire in turn two breaking the front end. On the restart Powers continued to lead but behind him Sheldon Hoogwerf was getting some pressure from the winningest Sportsman driver in Brockville history Randy Gaudet. These two drivers put on a great battle for the fans with Steve Billing closing in to make it a three-car battle. In the end Jason Powers was too strong as he drove on to the win over Hoogwerf, Gaudet, Billings and Mark Shadwell.

The debut of the 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint Car division saw 358 Modified driver Luke Stewart take command of the race and put on a clinic as he led the way convincingly over Jacob Dykstra, Brett Stratford, Ryan Hunsinger and Lucas Smith. Stewart had the fastest car on track has he stretched his lead to over a straight away and appeared to have things well in hand on this night as nobody had anything for him. At halfway even traffic proved to be no match for Stewart as he worked through it perfectly leaving Dykstra and Stratford to battle for 2nd. On lap 19 things went from smooth sailing to rocky road as Stewart lost the handle in turn three and sailed off the top of the speedway. Stewart was able to get back in the race but had a lot of ground to cover with 5 laps to go. This left Jacob Dykstra in command over Stratford and Hunsinger. Over the final laps Dykstra stayed smooth and patient as he charged the line to become the first ever Crate Sprint Car winner in the history of Brockville Speedway. Stratford finished a solid 2nd over Ryan Hunsinger, Bryan Cloutier and Luke Stewart fought back to 5th at the checkers.
